We will co-create a field of warmth, inspiration and support as we
begin the new year with deeper self-connection, more presence and spaciousness.

This isn’t about villainizing social media - it’s just healthy to take breaks! Let’s orient toward the space we will create by stepping away for a moment.

What is possible when we unhook from the constant distraction, the endless loop of low-value dopamine hits, and the infinite scroll?

Your Guide:

Hi! I’m Mari.  10 years ago I had a wakeup call about the negative aspects of my relationship with my smartphone, and did my first digital detox.  1 month - a flip phone, and zero internet use.  It rocked my world and gave me a solid touchstone of what it feels like to have more space from the screens.  We’ll call that the “opening ceremony” to a decade of exploring and experimenting with my tech habits.

Real Talk: I’ve been around the block and I know this terrain well.  I have explored a myriad of digital detoxes and lifestyle shifts over the years.  AND: I’m JUST as susceptible as you to the addictive nature of social media.

It is for this exact reason that I am so passionate about taking regular pauses, to break the cycles that are inevitable to fall into over time.

Taking extended breaks from social media has been the most impactful way for me to cultivate a more balanced relationship with it.

I step away often and with ease, which makes way for so much goodness in my life! Deeper connection with myself and engagement with my environment, creative blossoming and generally a feeling of greater wellbeing.

Don’t get me wrong. . . I LOVE instagram! I’m a total internet humor fangirl, and am so grateful for the inspiration, resources and opportunities that have come through social media.

However, I DO NOT think it’s healthy to be on there all the time.

I’m here to advocate for and normalize hitting the pause button, coming back into the room and into our bodies. Here, Now, and feeling it.

I look so forward to being with you in this process!

P.S. Besides stepping away from SM, my own added commitment for January 2025 is to kick my phone out of the bedroom! It’s been too long! :)

- add-on -

deepen your experience with one-on-one text & voice memo support

It can be a big experience making habit changes like this, and we can learn a lot about ourselves along the way.

You’ll always have someone you can reach out to and share what’s unfolding for you, what you’re observing in yourself, and share your challenges and celebrations!

We’ll begin the month with a voice memo check-in so I know what your personal intentions are for the experience, so that we can hold your desires together.

Throughout the month you can reach out and share what you’re experiencing, you can also reach out when you’re finding yourself stuck staring at your phone and not wanting to be- share openly what’s happening and let our connection help you make shifts to different ways of being!

I will be checking in on whatsapp a couple times a day, and will respond to any messages you’ve sent at those times!

This is not therapy, and I am not a therapist.  That being said, your big feelings are sooo welcome, and I am here to offer you compassion, encouragement, and inspiration with a dose of candid humor and enthusiasm as you create more spaciousness in your life by changing your tech habits.

My background as a trauma-informed subtle bodyworker, psychedelic guide, and avid digital detoxer will inform how I support you. I am familiar with the challenges that can arise through these changes - from emotions emerging to logging on even though you said you wouldn’t. I GET IT!!  No need to add shame to it, let’s make room for your experience, get curious together, and integrate the lessons and reflections as they show up!

I am in your corner and so stoked to support you in creating more space in your life for your soul to flourish in!

If you’re new to voice memos...allow me to introduce you! I LOVE THEM!! Here’s a sample of what it might sound like to receive memos from me :)

FAQs

  • Omg so many reasons! Yours will be unique to you depending on your relationship to it. I could list off a bunch of reasons like “improved mental health! enhanced focus and productivity! brain reset! improved sleep! creativity boost!”...but Real Talk: It’s a bit much isn’t it? A bit off too much of everything all the time. Taking a break from social media is part of becoming more autonomous about what you are welcome into your personal field. Winter is a wonderful time to be more inward and consume less external output so we can tune into what our soul is whispering…

  • You can totally do this on your own!

That being said, it’s so easy to fall off of new patterns and habits when we’re trying to do them by ourselves. It’s often easier (and more fun!) to stick to things when we are receiving the support and encouragement from community.

The group field we will co-create will be a source of kinship and care as we each navigate our more open space in January.

My hope is that this group experience helps you drop into sacred pauses on your own in the future with more ease and immediacy any time you could use a break.

  • Part of this experience will be making your own! This is a BUILD YOUR OWN ADVENTURE.

We will be exploring setting personal intentions in the first zoom call and in earlier ‘Questions of the Day’. Perhaps you want to abstain from a singular app, or offer yourself a deeper retreat month by abstaining from multiple.

Having an accountability buddy (joining with a friend or adding on 1-on-1 support from me) can help keep you on track with your personal intentions

  • Omg it has happened to me so many times!! Your transparency is welcome here. This is all a learning and growing experience and there’s no doing it perfectly.

Logging on (or wanting to) is always an *excellent* opportunity to notice and observe what’s compelling you to reach for social media, and get curious about the deeper feelings underneath.

  • The first few days you’ll probably find yourself unconsciously and compulsively going to click on the app that’s no longer there. It’s in this phase that I become more aware of a sort of anxious energy in my system that goes along with that behavior.

This will smooth out in it’s own time as you settle more into the experience.

Throughout the month you will likely experience a lot of different things! As you’re recalibrating to the space, you may feel bored, anxious, sad. You may feel more peaceful, relaxed, creative, inspired, happy.

Just like #LIFEITSELF and #EVERYDAY, this too is going to be a non-linear journey.

This is about experiencing life more fully. Deep welcoming breaths to all the waves as they come!

  • Although you’ll have access to the group support/connection in the Whatsapp Community for the month, of January, it might feel great to have an accountability buddy that you already know, to have more personal checkins and sharings about how it’s going!

  • You don’t! You can think of the Whatsapp Community as a warm and welcoming space to enter anytime it serves you. There is no pressure to show up in any certain way.

That being said, you will likely get more value out of the group field by participating. Sharing vulnerably and being witnessed can be so powerful.

Most of us keep our unhealthy tech habits behind closed doors, and this is a space where you get to hear others say “I get it. You’re not alone”.

  • Winter is such a good time for self inquiry/reflection.

There will be some questions that help us explore our relationship to social media (and our screens in general), some questions that help us clarify our deeper desires and how we can support them coming to life, and Q’s that help us connect with and understand ourselves at this unique moment in our lives.

  • Leading up to January, focus on your AWARENESS of your tech habits.

Observe when and why you reach for your phone, and what happens to you when you’re on social media.

Maybe right now you’re like “I’M READY NOW.” - if that’s you, log off and delete baby!! We will join you with enthusiasm on Jan 1!
